Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Women’s Health Examinations:
- Conducting routine gynecological examinations, including pelvic exams, Pap smears, breast exams, and other screenings to monitor and maintain women’s reproductive health.
- Makes regular detailed morning & evening round of the in-patients as well as surprises the visits to ensure that work is being carried out in accordance with instructions of Department/Hospital policy.
- Operates on scheduled & emergency cases independently.
Prenatal Care:
- Providing prenatal care to pregnant women, monitoring the progress of pregnancies, and addressing any complications or concerns.
- Will be responsible for Monitoring and Evaluation of junior doctors & nursing staff, responsible for patient care.
- Patient care as per duty roster (Ward rounds, OPDs and on call duties).
- Advising the institution in developing cost effective patient care.
- Overall co-ordination of departmental activities including departmental administration and patient service/care.
Labor and Delivery:
Managing labor and delivery, ensuring the safe delivery of babies, and providing care to both mother and newborn immediately following childbirth.
Gynecological Surgeries:
Performing surgical procedures related to women’s reproductive organs, such as hysterectomies, tubal ligations, and laparoscopic surgeries.
Diagnosis and Treatment:
Diagnosing and treating various gynecological conditions, including infections, hormonal imbalances, and reproductive system disorders.
Family Planning and Contraception:
Offering family planning counseling, prescribing contraceptives, and providing information on various birth control methods.
Menstrual Disorders:
Addressing and treating menstrual irregularities, disorders, and related concerns.
Fertility Management:
Assisting couples with fertility issues, conducting fertility assessments, and providing guidance on fertility treatments.
Postpartum Care:
Offering postpartum care to new mothers, addressing any post-delivery complications, and providing guidance on postpartum recovery.
Collaboration with Other Healthcare Professionals:
Collaborating with obstetricians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for women.
Patient Education:
Educating patients on reproductive health, family planning, and preventive measures.
Qualifications:
- Gynaecologists should have postgraduate qualifications, such as a FCPS/MCPS (Fellow of the College of Physicians and Surgeons) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
- Strong communication skills, empathy, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information are crucial for gynecologists.
- Training completed in a well-known hospital. Previous experience with NGO preferred.
